Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
i love running, my friends think i`m a freak, wait till they hear this one....
i have run several marathons and always entertained the idea of running an ultra marathon, but most of those seem to be organised in very hot countries and very expensive!
I had the idea of doing a very long run here in the uk, the idea grew when i heard about the coast to coast path that some friends were going to cycle, and i thought that perhaps i could run it to raise money.
I work as an Inspector for the RSPCA, so of course i am going to raise money for my region. I dealt with a prosecution case last year where i removed 13 cats 2 dogs and 3 rabbits from someone`s property. one of the cats was the skinniest i have ever seen that was still alive, that cat had to be euthanased. we were succesful in our prosecution and the owners were jailed, but the case cost us £28,000 so i decided to focus my efforts to regain some of those costs with your help......
My contribution is the run of all runs.... the coast to coast is what it says on the tin, though its not the northern path, this one runs from Ilfracoombe to Plymouth, its 103 miles which i intend to do over 5 days, thats 20 miles per day, plus the extra bit...that will be the bit that kills me!!
those that know me will know that although i did do those marathons, that was about 3 years ago and since then my fitness has been intermittent with health and injury problems. so i have started my training now, slowly...and aim to do this run in march/April 2010, sounds a long way away now but i`m sure it will come too soon!!
please make my effort worthwhile.. its not just the 5 days of running, its the long slog of training throughout winter... i wont go on...but just think of me when you are snuggled under your duvet on a biting cold sunday morning!!!! i shall be out there doing my 2 hour or more run...anyway, i sidetrack, please help!
