Story
Firstly, the reason for the bay leaves is that I have a huge bay tree and every year the leaves are wasted so in the spirit of not wasting anything that is why.
My 93 year old aunt passed away during the first lockdown in a care home where we couldn’t visit her. Prior to that she had been living at home, and Age UK gave her some much needed support, but her dementia became so bad she needed 24 hour care.
She was a Bletchley Park codebreaker, Vivien Jeffreys. Aunt Vivien was bright, astute and warm. She did a lot for her community and for our country. In her honour I want to raise some money that might help others not suffer the same fate. During lockdown, her condition deteriorated due to the isolation and I know that Age UK are doing what they can to avoid this.
If you would like to donate, because you can, great! If you’d like some free bay leaves from the goodwill box and you saw the sign please take what you need and give what you can. If you can’t donate, see if you can reach out to an older person who might be isolated.
