Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page! I am Flight Sergeant Bartek Ptaszek from 14F Northolt Squadron and will be raising funds for John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).
John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation
- The JTYAF was set up in memory of John Thornton who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008
- They provide opportunities for young people to help them to develop as individuals and fulfill their ambitions in life as John was able to do.
- John Thornton graduated as the top student from the Air Cadets Junior Leaders Course 4.
- He achieved an incredible amount in his youth, flying with the Red Arrows, climbing Kilimanjaro, and even qualifying as a skydiver.
- In 2004 John joined the Royal Marines as an Officer and was awarded the coveted green beret.
- He served with distinction and was tragically killed in South Afghanistan in 2008.
My Aim
For this fundraiser, I aim to squat a total of 100,000kg to represent those thousands of lives lost worldwide in conflict during times of war, but also those thousands of young people without the opportunity to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential. By donating to JTYAF, you can help provide even more support to young people that just need a push to fulfill their ambitions.
Being a current student on the Junior Leaders Course 23, I believe not only will this fundraiser push me to complete the course to the best of my ability but to push myself to fulfill my ambition of becoming a Qualified Junior Leader which will be an ultimate stepping stone for my future career within the RAF. I will be posting all of my progress on my Instagram @bartek.pt or Twitter @bartekptaszek
