Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, in the summer, I was diagnosed with a 3cm brain tumour which, following a craniotomy to excise the tumour, was found to be a medulloblastoma - a high grade tumour, rarely seen in adults.
This has come completely out of the blue and was discovered by happenstance! Luckily, Mr I, my surgeon, was able to remove the whole tumour.
Not long after my operation, I set up this page, to raise funds for Maggie's Centres because they had provided such great support to my family and I, in such a short space of time. I initially set out to raise £100 which was exceeded more than three-fold, within an hour! I've since upped my target!
Maggie's Centres are havens of calm and support, attached to or on the site of NHS hospitals. Our local Maggie's is beautiful, in it's architecture, atmosphere and location. They have a wealth of information and resources available and it's great to speak to staff who are knowledgable and caring.
It was recommended that I undergo radiotherapy treatment to my whole brain and spine, in order to kill off any remaining cancerous cells. I began the treatment but became extremely unwell and I took the difficult decision to discontinue the treatment.
In September I held a virtual Neal's Yard Party and through the sales of that evening, we raised a further £6 toward this page. My family and I will be making various fundraising efforts over the coming months too! If you'd like to join in, please get in touch. :)
