Story

Atkins (Member of the SNC-Lavalin group) is a Patron of RedR UK, who they have supported for a number of years. We are a team of 15 Graduates and Apprentices from the Manchester and Warrington offices hoping to raise £1500 for this charity.

Every year, more than 20 million people are displaced by disasters such as flooding, heat waves and tropical cyclones. Many countries face the dual threat of high vulnerability to climate change while having limited capacity to respond to disasters.

On the 20th January 2022, members of our team completed 20,000 steps to raise awareness of the situation. The funds we raised will support RedR in their efforts to build climate-resilience and disaster risk reduction capacity in the humanitarian sector by training and supporting humanitarians working in these vulnerable regions threatened by climate change, for the ultimate benefit of these regions and communities.

So far we have carried out a range of successful fundraising activities including our Christmas and Valentine's Hamper Raffles, Virtual Quiz, '20 on 20 for 20' Challenge, Valentine's Bake Sale, and Charity Football Match. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

We are currently running our Minutes for Miracles campaign (please see our Yammer post for more info Yammer - Conversation), and we will be running a Bake Sale in the Warrington office on 24th February,  please pop along and get some tasty bakes while donating to a very worthy cause.

RedR UK is an international disaster relief charity that gives people the skills to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters and conflict. RedR trains thousands of people each year, ensuring they can get clean water services running again, prevent a cholera outbreak, test the safety of a building after an earthquake and much more. Citizens are always the first responders to a disaster. That's why RedR builds the skills of national aid workers working for local organisations to ensure skills remain in-country for the long term ready for future disasters.Your donation will help aid workers to save and rebuild more lives after disasters.

Thank you!
