Hello, thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Emily and I are putting our lives on hold so that we can give something back to a charity that is very close to our hearts (Amicii Dog Rescue). We are hoping to spend at least 6 months in Romania giving up our time and using our skills to help animals in need.

Amicii Dog Rescue is a UK based charity, which was established to support a dog rescue shelter in Transylvania, Western Romania. The shelter cares for up to 300 dogs at any one time and is run by Asociatia Amicii Nostri, a registered NGO. Many of the dogs in Amicii's care have been subject to neglect and abuse and have been rescued from some awful situations. Amicii give these dogs a second chance by taking care of them before they are ready to be rehomed in the UK. 

As I have a background in construction, a project that I would really like to focus on is the build of a new vet clinic for the shelter. This will enable the vets to treat the dogs and pups in a clean and safe environment. As Emily has experience in social media, she will be documenting the entire trip to give you a deeper insight into Amicii's work. We will be using Instagram to do this, so please give us a follow @amiciidogrescue. 

To give you an idea of costs, we have put together a list of items that the shelter uses daily: 

Bags of dry dog food- £4 each 

Tins of dog food- 75p each

Straw to keep the dogs warm- £2 per bale 

A truck full of gravel for the enclosures- £56 

We have also estimated the cost of the vet clinic, it will cost approximately £3500 to build. 

We would be ever so grateful if you could contribute towards our fundraising campaign and help us support the dogs in need, however we understand that due to the current circumstances it may not be possible to donate. If so, a share on your social media pages would be much appreciated as this could lead to future donations and perhaps even adoption or sponsorship of a dog!
