Story
Dear friends,
I am walking the 78-mile Capital Ring walk around London, and would like to invite you to sponsor me for charity.
One of the small consolations of this difficult year has been the opportunity to walk around London during lockdown and explore parts of the capital I hadn’t seen before. This has inspired me to try something more challenging. The Capital Ring passes close to my house in East Finchley and traces a wide circle around London, via Hackney, Woolwich, Streatham, Wimbledon and Richmond. I plan to walk this route in stages, getting some healthy exercise in some of London’s green spaces and raising some money for charity at the same time.
I will be doing this in aid of Homeless Action in Barnet (https://www.habcentre.org), a local charity that provides food and shelter for people currently homeless and rough sleeping, and helps them to find long-term accommodation. As some of you know, I have a long-standing interest in homeless charities, going back over twenty years, and have done volunteer work in day centres and night shelters, so this is a cause very close to my heart.
For anyone who would like to know more about the Capital Ring, here is the Wikipedia page with links to further information:

Some intrepid people are reported to have walked the whole Capital Ring in one go. I am not so ambitious, and plan to walk it in stages during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. I will keep a diary of my progress and share it via email with anyone who donates.
