We are hoping to expand our service by running a mobile foodbank. The plan is to buy and fit out a large van so we can reach clients who might struggle to get to our current foodbank. Food would still be free but clients could choose what they need. We could park near schools, community centres and sheltered housing. Ideally we would be there alongside other services such as debt advice, addiction support services or healthcare to offer a "one stop shop".
A suitable van will cost about £15,000 to buy and fit out. On top of that there's insurance, tax, servicing, fuel, stock, advertising ... which is why we have set a £20,000 target! This is still cheaper than renting a fixed premises and we hope will enable us to reach more people.
If you are able to donate this would be brilliant. If you can't but have ideas about possible stops to help us plan our route or know somewhere safe we could store the van that would also be appreciated.
