Annie's hair shaving for MS

Hair shaving for MS · 2 April 2013
So hi, I guess you're here and that's a good start.
As many of you know, I'm Annie and this is my story.
Over a two years ago I had a spinal operation which sadly didn't turn out how I expected. I was in and out of a wheelchair and had to use walking sticks on a daily basis so I could function as a normal human being.
Since the operation I have been in chronic pain and it really affects my quality of life. Without the support of my friends and family I really wouldn't be here today. Everyday I take large amounts of medication and I am constantly seeing consultants, physiotherapists and other medical professionals. My life revolves around medication and hospital appointments.
Due to the medication I take, it is causing my hair to fall out, more so in the past few weeks. As you can guess, this is very emotionally draining and can be traumatic at times. I feel less of a person and I feel the whole world can see the bald patches I have. It's embarrassing and it's hard to have to hide. In support for my current MS testing (likelihood of RRMS) I am shaving my hair with close friends and donating the money the MS Society.
MS Society has changed my life. Their website is informative and has helped reduce massively some of the anxieties I have about MS as a condition. I've met some great people thanks to the MS page I have a great support network. It's thanks to them I'm not afraid anymore.
Even if your donation is £1, it means the world to me.
Thanks again.
