Story

Er cof am Anni fach ni! 🤍

On the 21/08/22 it will be our Anni's first heavenly birthday. A year since the best and worst day of our lives. Anni passed neonatally 4 hours after she was born, we were so lucky to be able to see her alive but what followed was the most traumatic experience we've been through.

When Anni passed we needed to arrange her funeral, we were in a fog of grief, as we were for months after and we still are at times. Unfortunately we weren't in the right state of mind to decide where we would have liked donations in her memory to go. We also hid away and kept everything so private for a long time and many felt they didn't get the chance to send a card.

Because of this we decided we would create a Just Giving page so that if people wish to do so, they can donate in her memory as we reach her first birthday.

A year later, we are still as devastated as the day it happened but we have had time to reflect on the support we were given by various organisations/ charities.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank and raise awareness of charities and companies who helped us so much this past year. Those being: Remember my baby, Box4Louis, 2Wish, Aching Arms, Snowdrops Bereavement Team(Alder Hey) , Ysbyty Gwynedd Bereavement Room,  and Meinir Griffiths who runs 'Dylan Griffith Funeral Director'.

Our hope is to fundraise for the above charities in years to come but this year we have decided to donate to the charity 'Remember my Baby'.

Remember my Baby Charity (RMB)

The day after Anni was born we were in the Bereavement room in the hospital and they kindly let our families come and meet Anni. Our angel of a midwife Nia Gwynedd came and asked if we would like a volunteer from the charity to come and take some photos of Anni for our memories. We jumped at the chance and within the hour Agata from 'A.G.Shoots Creative Art Photography' came and took the most precious photos.

Agata was so kind to us a family and was so gentle with Anni, she guided us and helped us through our tears. Agata is a volunteer photographer for the charity, she gives up her own time to take photos, edit and communicate with families in their time of need.
Thankfully, my mother and father were there at the time and we have photos of them holding Anni too. We devastatingly lost my father two months after Anni passed and I contacted her again to ask if there were any photos of my Dad that we hadn't been sent and she sent us a couple of extra photos that I will treasure forever.

Our families have used A.G.Shoots for their new born photos before and since Anni's passing and we hope we will be able to do the same in the future if we are lucky enough to give Anni a little brother or sister. I highly recommend Agata and I will forever be grateful for the most precious photos in our possession.

If anyone knows of photographers, please make them aware of this charity as the more photographers that are willing to volunteer the more families will have the same keepsakes as us.

Thank you to those who did send cards including donations at the time, we will forward your donations to the charity.

A heartfelt thank you in advance,

Rachel and Sion Owen
