Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2011, I and other Hospice colleagues together with outside supporters will be trekking in the foothills of the Annapurnas in Nepal to raise much needed funds for Thames Hospicecare in Windsor.
The Hospice provides palliative care for adults with cancer and other life limiting illnesses at any stage. We are a registered charity and receive only 25% of our running costs from the government so your generosity can make a real difference to patients' lives.
I am a Sister on the Inpatient Unit. I feel privileged to have this position and work with a wonderful team of nurses, doctors, and other members of the multidisciplinary team who provide a holistic approach in caring for our patients, encompassing their physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs. We recognise that every patient’s journey is unique and each person is treated as an individual. We feel a great sense of achievement when we have effectively managed patient’s symptoms, when a patient has a dignified death, and the family and carers have been well supported.
Raising funds for the hospice is so important but this is also a personal challenge for me. Not only have I got to be super fit but I have to lose weight and that means no more chocolate, this is a challenge in itself for me, as my colleagues know only too well!
I have never undertaken a task like this before and the trip has been completely self funded. Please support me and Thames Hospicecare.
