There are
so many women suffering globally from abuse and disempowerment. My heart cries for, and stands by, those in Iran fighting for freedom. This week’s group yoga class profits will be supporting those in Iran - every single protester is sacrificing their life for the future's freedom.
Women, children, minority groups (LGBTQ+) and their supporters, are all fighting for freedom in Iran against an outdated tyrannical regime. Children as young as 11 are being detained. Protestors are heavily made up of women, aged 11-25yrs old. The violent response to their peaceful protests is unimaginable, Iran’s death row consists of peaceful protesters and LGBTQ+ individuals. That’s if they get a trial. Mahsa_Amini and Nika_Shakarami and many others are not so ‘lucky’. Women have been imprisoned for showing their hair.
Iran’s internet censorship and violent response is not silencing the uprising, so long as we continue to support them, politicians will have to listen and take action.
Here’s what you can do:
2. Donate
3. Attend or organise protests
4. Share as much as you can on social media using hashtags and tagging in your local MP, or any MP for that matter
5. Write to your government & your MP demanding to know what they are doing to hold Iranian authorities accountable for violating human rights
Please please please stand up with me. Care enough to help those who are so brave they are risking their life to liberate Iran and liberate women. Changing this regime will have a knock on effect for all regimes and mindsets that suppress the marginalised.
The Center is an independent organization with no political affiliation. It is named in memory of Dr. Abdorrahman Boroumand, an Iranian lawyer and pro-democracy activist who was assassinated allegedly by the agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris on April 18, 1991. The Center believes that promoting human rights awareness through education and the dissemination of information is a necessary prerequisite for the establishment of a stable democracy in Iran.
