Ann devoted a huge amount of time to charitable causes, and had a continuous drive to help those in need. The relief of homelessness and support of vulnerable individuals was something she strived to achieve through her work with the Gatehouse.  For many years she volunteered there, both as a drop-in session coordinator and as an active member of the management committee. She also took part in sponsored sleep outs to raise money for the Gatehouse and other homelessness charities in Oxford. By doing this she touched the lives of the people she worked alongside and the guests she helped.
