I am asking for donations for Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team because I benefited so much from their service. In November last year, I took part in a swim walk event in Wessenden Valley that I thought was well trained for. On the way back up hill, I started to suffer from cramps. This is not unusual for me and I expected it to pass quickly. The cramps became increasingly painful and persistent and I was becoming exhausted. I realised that I could not walk any further and I agreed to let my friends call for help.

When the Holme Valley Mountain rescue team arrived, I was reassured by their professional and friendly approach. They set up a tent around me to protect me from the wind and very quickly organised the help and equipment they needed. They fastened me securely in a stretcher and carried me uphill. Although, the cramps were continuing and I was in a lot of pain, I felt safe and I trusted the team.

A member of the team dropped me, and my friend, at the hospital and provided details to the staff at casualty. The cramps did stop eventually and I have not had any further problems.

Without the services of the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue team, I dont know how I would have fared that day. I am so glad that they were there and that they are so skilled, well trained and organised.

Their efforts mean we are safer when we choose to enjoy our beautiful countryside. I would really appreciate it if you can make a donation of any amount to help raise money for this team. They cover a very large area of Yorkshire, and provide an invaluable and often life saving service.
