Brian Houten is raising money for Thrombosis UK
In memory of Angela Houten
Thrombosis UK is dedicated to promoting awareness, research and care of thrombosis. We have extensive resources available for both the public and health professionals via our website at www.thrombosisuk.org

Story

To commemorate Angela's 60th birthday, we're asking people to take part in #AthleticsforAngela - film yourself completing an Athletics challenge with a twist, donate £1 to Thrombosis UK, and nominate your friends!

On 13th October 2014, Angela's husband Brian and daughter Rachel attended St Thomas' Hospital for the first ever Patient Day to learn more about Thrombosis UK. This was also the inaugural World Thrombosis Day as well as exactly one year since Angela suffered a pulmonary embolism following a DVT at the tender age of 52. After meeting the officials and volunteers involved in the Charity, we decided, along with son Andrew, son-in-law Anthony and Angela's mum Dorothy that we wanted to help in the awareness and fundraising campaign as much as we could - we know Angela would have approved, having worked in the NHS for 16 years prior to her sudden death.   So far we have raised the following;

MAY 2015
-   £750
An 11-a-side football match between
Unbelievable Jeffs and Brian Munich followed by a Fundraising Evening, both
hosted by Fleetwood Town FC.

JAN 2017
-   £1500
Dinner Dance for 120 people at the North
Euston Hotel Fleetwood

OCT 2017
-   £2715
Cardiff Half Marathon run by
Anthony, Nick, Iain, Emily and Garth – a fantastic amount!

APR 2018   -   £575
Angela’s beloved Uncle Reg died late in 2017 and his wife
Jessie asked that any donations be sent in memory of both Reg and Angela to
Thrombosis UK

JUL 2018   -   £1000
World Cup Prediction Competition run by Brian for family and
friends. Each of the 325 entrants was asked to donate £1 to the charity –
everyone did, as well as an extra £675. Amazing!
