Story
I aim to row 10km each day for the next 30 days: 300km in total, which is about the length of the Thames Path. I can just about see the Thames from my rowing machine, and each day I will imagine where I would have got to (starting from the source, where actually the river is not generally navigable in a real rowing boat).
I understand that lockdown will add to the pressure on mental health charities. Sport in Mind is a Reading-based mental health charity that improves the lives of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity. The charity doesn't have a huge income (just over £200k last year), so all donations will make a huge difference.
Sport in Mind provides physical activity projects (sport, walking, dance and movement, gardening and exercise sessions) in partnership with the NHS to aid recovery, promote mental wellbeing, improve physical health, combat social isolation and empower people to move their lives forward in a positive direction. It also uses the power of sport to bring people together to talk about mental health and help change attitudes. In 2019, Sport in Mind received the Queen's Awards for Voluntary Services.
