Leslie Backhouse had a lifelong love of the Lake District - he first visited as a teenager in the early 1940's and made his last trip in 2018 at the age of 94.  He always valued the work of the rescue teams and was secure in the knowledge that they were there if he needed them - especially as he would often walk alone.

Sadly he died earlier this year at the age of 98.  He did not want flowers at his funeral and donations were collected for Wasdale Mountain Rescue.
