Story
This page has been set up in memory of our beloved friend and colleague Alasdair MacDonald who died on 2 August 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Alasdair joined COPFS in 1979 and faithfully served communities across Scotland for 37 years with professionalism and compassion. He served as Procurator Fiscal at Elgin, Haddington, Dingwall, Tain and Wick and latterly was the senior solicitor in the Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit, North. In his work as PF and in the SFIU Alasdair provided an invaluable service and gave comfort to bereaved relatives. Our thoughts and prayers are now with Anna, Colin, Fiona, Angela and family.
Alasdair was universally admired and respected by his colleagues and peers. Colleagues have reminded me of numerous stories of Alasdair's wisdom, support, generosity of spirit and his unfailing good humour. Alasdair spread warmth and inspired confidence in each of the offices in which he worked. He was a gentleman. During his illness he was at pains to thank friends and colleagues for their messages of support and kindness. I speak on behalf of all staff to say that it was a privilege and joy to work with Alasdair. We miss you.
