Story
We are sad to inform you that husband, father and good friend Andre contracted the coronavirus and after an agonising 10 day fight, lost his battle with the virus and passed away early on the morning of Monday, 30th March.
We are all heartbroken and know it will take time for the pain to ease from losing such a caring and loving anchor that Andre was in all our lives.
His funeral will take place on the 16th April at Slough Crematorium and under the current restrictions only immediate family can attend. His close family are setting up an audio link so that wider family members, friends and business partners can "attend" virtually and say their farewells to Andre too.
Andre was a great supporter of many children's charities but particularly the small rare disease research charity Action for A-T. Over the years he and Vicki donated significant funds and prizes for auction, helping the charity raise in excess of £100,000.
Action for A-T was established in 2012 by parents whose daughter was diagnosed with a rare life limiting neurological condition named Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T). The charity’s mission is simple, they aim to speed up the process of identifying a cure for A-T or treatments that delay or prevent the disabling effects of this devastating childhood condition.
1 in 3 children with A-T will develop cancer or respiratory disorders at some stage and more than half will die before they are out of their teens. People with A-T are included within the 1.5 million people considered by the NHS to be at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) and the advice for everyone with the condition, is to undertake a rigorous protection regime known as “shielding”. The outlook is horrifying for these families as many will also lose loved ones to the virus before the crisis is over.
The family hope that you will consider donating to Action for A-T via this page as Andre was so passionate about doing all he could to raise funds for children's charities would have been delighted to know we can carry on this legacy for Action for A-T.
