Story
We are Alice and Amy, two students from the Lake district. This February we want to combine two things that are very important to us, wild swimming and the LGBTQ+ community.
It requires alot of bravery (and a bit of madness) to swim every day in the lakes without a wetsuit in February, but no where near as much bravery as coming out as part of the LGBTQ+ community. We want to do this challenge to raise awareness of the LGBT foundation charity that strives to promote safety, equality and well being for all people within the community.
We both have found that during these difficult and unusual times wild swimming has greatly helped both our mental and physical well being and we want to show people the benefits it can have. However, we understand that not everyone has access to the beautiful lakes we swim in, which is why we want to support a charity that can help people in the same way.
Did you know that February is LGBT history month? (It is also the shortest so we wont be cold for as long).
