Amy's Amy's Scotland coast to summit to coast!

Amy's Scotland coast to summit to coast! · 17 September 2015
We’ll be hiking, cycling and canoeing across Scotland
– from Fort William on the western coast, over the top of Ben Nevis,
through Loch Lochy, along Loch Ness to Inverness on the east coast.
We’ll
be staying in hostels at nights, challenging ourselves physically
during the days and possibly experiencing every type of weather
imaginable!
Fundraising target: £300 per person
Day 1 (Thurs 17 Sep): Ben Nevis
We
start with a challenging hike, from sea level to the highest point of
Britain at 1,344m. This is a long and challenging hike which will take
between 6-10 hours.
Day 2 (Fri 18 Sep): To Loch Ness by Bike & Canoe
We
start the day with our back wheels in the Atlantic Ocean. We start with
a ride of around 20kms along a canal path so it’s a good warm up for
this challenging day. Reaching Loch Lochy, we swap bikes for canoes and
begin a 20km paddle (hopefully with the wind on our backs!) through this
loch. We’ll be in Canadian canoes, with 2 people per canoe. Then we'll
jump back onto the bikes for a further 20km ride to Fort Augustus.
Day 3 (Sat 19 Sep): Loch Ness to the Moray Firth by Bike
We’re
halfway across the Highlands now but still a long way to go. We follow
an off-road trail along the banks of Loch Ness for just over 50km, which
takes us to Inverness. This is no easy ride as there are some
challenging climbs at the start of the day. We finish by dipping our
front wheels into the North Sea.
