Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our beautiful little princess Mia went into cardiac arrest on 21st May 2022 after suffering a severe sudden asthma attack. Her father and I, and local neighbours, done all in our power to give her CPR until the emergency services arrived. They took over and managed to get her heart beating again.
We were taken to Broomfield hospital, then transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge to go into a neuro-intensive coma. As soon as we arrived, Acorn House - which is funded by the Sick Childrens Trust, gave us keys to our own room a 2 minute walk from Mia’s ward. The room they gave us was a home-from-home. It gave us the comfort and breathing space we needed when times got intense. We slept there for 6 nights, only for a few hours as we wanted to be with Mia as much as we could, but those few hours was our little haven. We, also had a lot of emotional support from the volunteers who work there which will stay in our hearts forever.
Mia passed away on 26th May 2022 after being confirmed ‘brain stem dead’ we chose to donate Mia’s organs and her heart as we knew it was what Mia wanted. Mia had a very rare blood group and was also the first paediatric donor in over a year in the East of England. She lived and died a hero, we know Mia would of been proud of our decision and that 4 families lives changed because of Mia’s kind heart and nature.
Mia was massively into charity work, her dream was to make cupcakes and sell them outside our front door which I always told her would be difficult as we live in a cul-de-sac and not many people walk past but she was adamant she would do it in the summer! She was also always asking for change anytime we walked past a charity box or buy something that went to charity. This will not be the only fund raising we do for Mia, but it is the first immediate charity we have chose to raise for as they helped us in our time of need and we will forever be grateful for that.
To fund a room for a month through the Sick Childrens Trust cost £1200. We are hoping to raise enough for a 2 month room donation.
Any donation will be appreciated, and to help other parents find the comfort and solace they need in the most devastating of times.
The Sick Childrens Trust will live in our hearts forever and we hope with the help of everyone who’s hearts have been touched by Mia’s journey in life can help to other families too.
