Story
I'm not an experienced swimmer. I play in the pool on holidays, love a good water slide but I've never swam for fitness or had any lessons. So I've decided to test myself by completing this challenge of swimming the equivalent of the width of Lough Neagh (15km) and rowing the length (30km) in 6 days to raise financial support for Crown Jesus Ministries. Lough Neagh is the largest freshwater lake in Northern Ireland, the largest lake by area in the British Isles and is ranked 31st in the list of largest lakes of Europe. This will mean swimming 100 lengths per day at my local pool and rowing 5km a day at the gym; so lots of early mornings, aching muscles and sleep will be required!
I've been a part of the team of Crown Jesus from day one over 21 years ago and had the privilege of joining the staff team as C.O.O in Sept this year. Much has changed over the years but not quite as quickly as in the last 8 months. We've had to think on our feet and pioneer new ways to reach this beautiful island for Jesus. This has impacted our income from church partnership and school visits, so all of my fundraising will go to support the ongoing work of the ministry.
