Story
London City Mission’s vision is to partner with and mobilise the Church for Mission by envisioning, equipping, and enabling them to share the love of God and good news of Jesus Christ with the least reached people groups and communities in London.
Amanda-Lee is a full-time Missionary with the Mission and her current area of work is with local Churches, focusing on Homeless and Marginalised individuals in the Kings Cross, Camden, and surrounding areas.
Previously she worked at London City Mission's Homeless Day Centre based in Waterloo - Webber Street. The centre is a place where individuals experiencing homelessness can receive a hot meal, have a shower, receive clothes and toiletries and receive help and support and most importantly, hear the gospel.
Amanda developed an art programme for the homeless during her time at Webber Street and was also instrumental in working with the local councils during the pandemic to get almost 100 people in hotels which resulted in them receiving shelter and immediate help during lockdown. During this time the day centres guests and those that found themselves without accommodation were able to accept targeted support to help them overcome some of their complex issues and the assistance with regards to their situation surrounding being homeless.
Alongside her colleagues, she now mobilises and equips local Churches to interact, engage with and befriend Homeless and marginalised individuals and equips Christians on how to share the good news of Jesus and the love of God with others.
“I have a real heart to serve the homeless and marginalised community in London and to help others engage compassionately with individuals who are without a permanent home.
I also want to help more believers confidently share the good news of Jesus with those who have not heard the gospel before” Amanda-Lee Chili
