Story
Since 2014 I've been working with an amazing NY-based organization, the Women's Prison Association. Founded in 1845, WPA was the nation’s first organization dedicated to working with criminal justice-involved women and their families. We empower women — many of whom are moms — to redefine their lives in the face of injustice and incarceration, by helping them:
- find safe, affordable housing
- develop workplace skills and build careers
- reunify their families
- plan for release while incarcerated
- achieve stability in the community rather than behind bars
- access healthcare
- work toward personal goals
- avoid additional systems involvement
I have personally experienced a close loved one going through the endless cycle of the criminal legal system and it is incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking. Moreover, prisons rarely address the needs of inmates or prepare them to successfully reenter the community. WPA is the beginning to a solution.
Please help me support WPA in continuing its efforts to help break this endless cycle. ANY amount will go a long way in making a difference. Thank you so much for your support!
