Story
Allan loved the mountains, and shared this passion and enthusiasm with so many others, often kindling a love of hills and the outdoors in them too. He was always happy to talk all things outdoor, from routes to kit, to what kind of multi-megathon he was planning next! He tragically passed away after an accident in Snowdonia, following a fabulous day scrambling on the Atlantic slab. His distress beacon activated the wonderful mountain rescue team, who were on the scene extremely quickly. These volunteer heroes were instrumental in getting him to the hospital. Very sadly, his injuries were too severe for him to survive, but he wouldn't have had any chance at all were it not for his rescuers.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (OVMRO), or Sefydliad Achub Mynydd Dyffryn Ogwen as they are known in the native Welsh language, is a voluntary mountain rescue team responding to incidents in the mountains and valleys surrounding the Ogwen Valley, Glyderau, and Carneddau mountain ranges and surrounding area in northern Snowdonia. They are on-call 24 hours a day, throughout the year.
