Story
Lyra Grace Staley was born on Sunday 26th January 2014 at 16.37pm. She weighed 1.5lb and was at 24 weeks gestation.
Lyra was a strong, feisty, determined girl and despite all the odds, she came out fighting.
Lyra's prognosis was very poor, and her parents, Alison and Alan, hoped to be able to spend just a few moments with her. Their little girl fought so hard that they were blessed with 3 hours beside her.
While she was stable on the neonatal unit, she was baptized by Melbourne’s vicar, and met some of her relatives. When the time came, Alan and Alison were able to hold her close while she passed away peacefully.
Just 4 weeks after losing Lyra, Alison discovered she was pregnant again and Seren Rose Staley was born on 21st November 2014.
Throughout this rollercoaster of events spanning 15 months, Alison, Alan and their 3 girls were cared for by an amazing team within the Fetal Medicine department.
It is now their aim to raise much needed funds so that other families and their special babies receive the same level of care and support.
