Being a parent can be overwhelming at the best of times but even more so when you have a child with learning difficulties. Alice knows what this can be like as Emily one of our Directors has herself got a 'special child' who is being educated away from mainstream school. Many local families have to travel to get their child to their special school, but even if the family live within walking distance it may not be easy to get the child to school without transport. Some children may have mobility issues that prevent them from walking for any real distance and it has come to our attention that some children are not regularly attending school simply due to lack of transport. The local council do offer funding for some families but due to the proximity to the school, some families still do not qualify. We have assessed that there are at least 2 children who attend Merryfields Special School who fall within this bracket and we have made it our mission to make education assessible to all children by providing the much needed funding for transport. We hope that in time we can work with the local Council to ensure that all children are receiving the funding that they need, but until this point we would like to help. For 2 children transportation will cost £4,000 for 12months and we need your help to get these kids in school!
