Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2014 I was involved in an road traffic accident while riding my bike in the Lake District and suffered multiple breaks to my back, neck and skull. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was on hand to air lift me to the Newcastle RVI for surgery. While a full recovery was never assured I have made great progress and have managed to return to my career as a professional triathlete just over a year since my accident. The foundation of my recovery was the swift and professional action of the GNAAS to whom I am now indebted to.

The Fred Whitton Challenge is a 112 mile cycling event in Cumbria with taking in many of the Lake District's steepest passes. Having ridden the event before it is a landmark in my recovery that I am able to participate in it again and as the GNAAS have regularly been called out in the past to assist with accidents at the event it is a good opportunity to try and give something back.
