In 2009 I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. For this you take tablet chemo daily - forever! First I was put on Glivec (Imatinib) which stripped me completely and was ghastly. Then I moved onto Tasigna ( Nilotinib) which was better, but through this I lost about 50% volume of my hair. Lucky not to lose it all, I know.

For the last couple of years I have been off the meds trying to be “Treatment Free”. It’s been a slow process in the Leukaemia world, but more and more Doctors are now trying this with their patients - if their Lab numbers are low enough and steady enough. I’ve been lucky again, so far.

Now my hair is as long as I think it gets. Through this ‘Free’ time it has grown back thicker again. Lucky again, hey.

So, I would like to pass on some of this luck to others. What is the point of having all this good luck if you don’t use it!

The HAIR will go to The Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair from chemo.

Any MONEY I raise will go fully to The Woodlands Centre at Hinchingbrooke hospital where I am lucky enough to work in a job I love.

When I was diagnosed, Carl and I were told I had “3 - 5 years”. The Woodlands’s wonderful team have now looked after me for over 10 years

I know we all have causes close to our hearts, but please help me give back to this terrific team of people at The Woodlands who look after so many of us with different blood diseases.
