We support vulnerable and lonely people to relieve poverty, hardship and distress.

Story

During the Coronavirus outbreak, we've all been told to stay at home to save lives. But what about those who don't have anywhere to call home? Or those who will become homeless due to losing their job? Or through fleeing domestic violence from being in lock-down with an abusive partner?

We take the idea of home for granted too often. During the recent storms and rain, at Christmas time, or having somewhere to protect yourself against a virus that shuts down the entire world. Being fortunate enough to have that security isn't something everyone can experience.

Having spent time with those who attend Cheltenham Open Door's services, I can tell you first hand that they are just like you and me. They are humans who want safety, security, food, and somewhere warm to sleep at night. It's not a lot to ask for and yet these people go without. We're all a few simple mistakes away from being in their position, so please help me raise money for this wonderful charity who help these people in need.

I have chosen to shave my head as I want to do something that shows how serious I am about Cheltenham Open Door. For years my hair has been a huge part of my identity. Long and short, blue, pink, green, brown, ginger, white and grey - I've had it all. For a long time, I've been keen on the idea of shaving my head anyway but now it's a reality, I am becoming more and more nervous about the idea.

I know I won't look good and I'll receive a few 'oh what a shame, you have lovely hair', but the difference the money and hair can make is far more 'lovely' than hair that will grow back. I will also be donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust as they hugely transform someone's confidence who has lost hair due to cancer treatment (one of which was previously my mum).
