Samaritans is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential, non-judgmental, emotional support to anyone experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. The Sheffield branch receives over 30,000 calls a year - by phone, e-mail or visit - and is entirely reliant on voluntary support

Story

As a Samaritans volunteer at both Sheffield and Festival branches, I see and hear a lot of the need for the Samaritans service. We offer a non-judgemental space for people to talk, work through their problems, and make their own decisions on their own terms. Sometimes that decision will be around whether they want to take their own life, and we're there to listen at those times too. So I'm doing Samarathon to raise money for these two branches which have supported and nurtured me as a Samaritan, and where I know the money will be put to so much good use

In terms of Samarathon, I thought I'd take on the challenge for BOTH branches...so I'm doing this TWICE! This means I'm going to be running the equivalent of a half-marathon every week in July. If you want to support Sheffield branch then this is the page to use; if you want to support Festival branch then go to:

If you want to support both then donate to both! :) Either way, donate today: you could literally save a life...
