On 27 April Jane (Dillon) Postan and Alex Postan will be competing in the tenth “Grand Tour Cape to Cape” in their 1972 Porsche Carrera.  The essential aim of the event is to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support.  The previous 9 Tours have raised a terrific total of £471,650 and the target for the 10th (and probably the last) Cape to Cape is to exceed the £500,000 mark.

The event is closely linked to the format of the long distance trials and rallies that took place during the ‘Golden Age of Rallying’ from the 1930s to the 1960s.  The 2013 Cape to Cape runs over 1500 miles from Cabo da Roca near Lisbon, Portugal to finish six days later at Cape Cornwall in... Cornwall.

Take a look at the additional pictures that show Jane and Alex in their Porsche on a previous Cape to Cape.  The “Lacets du Montvernier” is a great example of a dramatic mountain pass of the sort that will be found on the route of the Grand Tour and there are some shots of Jane and Alex in their Lotus Cortina on another rally in 2012.
