Hello everyone,

my name is Tiny, Alex and I have known each other since we were both very wee on the beach in Portugal and apparently I took great pleasure destroying his and brother Tim's sandcastles...  I was very touched when he said that he wanted to run this half marathon for a charity of my choice.  I am currently suffering from Metastatic Melanoma and despite a poor prognosis I am fighting hard and doing well at the moment.  I chose Maggies as the charity of my choice as I would not be where I am today without them.  They offer the most amazing support both emotionally and physically and the beautiful way in which the centers are designed and decorated offer an oasis of peace and calm.  I would have been totally lost in the early days after my diagnosis when I did not know how I was going to get through a single day.  I regularly go there to see the wonderful Andy and I can just sit and cry, howl and shout and I always leave feeling so much better and equipped to take on the fight again.  Lupi, my husband, and I are shortly to start Tai Chi at the centre.  I would like to point out that I am one of the lucky ones as I have an amazing family around me and all around the world, and an amazing group of friends who have overwhelmed me with their never ending love and support.  There are many who do not have this and for them Maggies is the one and only place to go to receive such love and support.  During my 8 month battle the one and very important thing I have learned about cancer is that being supported emotionally gives you the mental strength to keep fighting.  The mental fight is half the battle and Maggies have been invaluable in making sure I am well equipped for this struggle.  Thank you for reading this and please give generously.
