Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Two weeks before Christmas the year before last my beautiful Dad passed away as a result of Prostate Cancer.
Prostate Cancer is one of the most common forms of Cancer in men with someone new being diagnosed every two minutes, and someone dying every single hour. It could be your friend, partner, son, father, husband or loved one.
The charity Prostate Cancer UK have specialised nurses who can help and advise anyone affected, and offer support groups including bereavement counselling and online communities. They raise awareness and more importantly help fund a large number of Hospitals and Universities who research into treatments and potential cures.
To honour my Dad and to help those currently fighting the disease I am part-taking in the Great Glen Canoe Trail, where I will be canoeing in a Sea-Kayak from Fort William to Inverness. My target is to accomplish this epic 60 mile journey over five days whilst camping in a tent and open to all extreme elements. The last time I went camping I was 12 years old, and I’ve only had a few hours experience on a sea kayak, to which I had a hairy moment where I capsized and was caught under water and had to be rescued. Good start ;-) Along with the harsh Scottish weather it will certainly test my endurance and will power which will take me well out of my comfort zone. This adventure is definitely not for the faint hearted.
I am looking to raise as much as I can, and I would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart and in memory of my Dad and many many others who have fallen victim to Prostate Cancer, if you would be so kind as to Sponsor me.
I travel to Scotland on Friday 20 September to start the five day experience on Sunday 22 September. I will be posting pictures of my journey on here for everyone’s amusement which I hope you enjoy. As my Dad would say “Get involved” and more importantly “Help others”. I hope you'd like to be part of my journey.
Thank-you very much
