Story
A group of women from around the world are going a month without make-up because we believe ALL girls deserve an education!
I am raising money for Orphans Know More (OKM), a charity that was founded in 2005 in Harpenden, which operates under Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Orphans Know More is a relationally based partnership working together to give orphans a Face, a Family and a Future. OKM focuses on families, not institutions, and believes that the best way to tackle the international orphan crisis is to care for children in families. OKM is strengthening 26 local families in the Jinja Region in Southern Uganda. These families have fostered and adopted and care for 187 children as their own, offering love and acceptance without condition. These families function as nuclear and extended families, free from institutionalisation. Stronger families within the network also care for other families that may be headed by a widow who is HIV+.
Of these 187 children, 61 girls need sponsorship for their primary, secondary and vocational education this year. In Uganda, only 18% of girls finish secondary education.
Would you consider sponsoring me to go with out makeup for the month of November. My fundraising target (£740) is to raise money for education for three primary aged girls and two secondary aged girls. 100% of your donation after bank charges go to these Ugandan girls and their educations.
Here's the total breakdown Orphans Know More is seeking to raise for all the girls to receive an education.
BREAKDOWN:
Vocational (10 girls) £350 each
Secondary (30 girls) £280 each
Primary (21 girls) £60 each
Total to raise: £13,610
