Story
Hello Everyone!
My name is Al Amin, and today I want to share my story.
I used to live in poverty in the slums of Dhaka in Bangladesh, where there is neither clean drinking water nor electricity. We didn’t know at the time that there was another world outside the slums. I was shocked to know that only a few meters away there were several 5 star hotels where people looked the same as us but lived different lives. I don’t blame this on others but I have sought change, and I want to follow through with this change.
We didn’t know that we had the right to dream, and we didn’t know that we have the right to live. I want to create a better life, not just for me but also for my community. I want the children in my community to believe in themselves and see that it is possible to move past our hurdles.
The Maria Cristina Foundation sponsored my education when I joined with them in 2005. Since then, they have helped hundreds of other children within the slums. Today, thanks to this education, I am able to write this message in English.
At the moment, I’m looking for funding to study International Business Management. I want to study business because I believe it is the source of the world economies, our communities and our livelihoods. I invite you to join my campaign here as I am raising funds to attend my school.
I have a dream to be part of a better world. A world that is efficient, healed and has the space for people to dream no matter where they come from.
Together, let’s plant better seeds for our future generations.
