About the charity

William Henry Quilliam, a local Liverpool solicitor embraced Islam in 1887 (aged 31). He took the name Abdullah and claimed that he was the first native Englishman to embrace Islam. He opened the First Mosque in England by inviting the local poor people to a feast. You will be joining the tradition started by Abdullah Quilliam, the ‘Sheikh ul Islam of the British Isles’ a title conferred by the Ottoman Emperor Sultan Abdul Hamid II.
