Story
Jasper, Oliver, Agnes, Marta, Leon and I together with fellow FBRC members rowed to the International Space Station, a massive 400km in one day on Saturday 24 July and this Sunday October 3rd I will be attempting a 20k row from Fulham to Richmond and back in a team of 24 in 3 octupole boats. Why, you may ask? To give every child an equal opportunity using the power of sport. Fulham Reach Boat Club has a unique vision to improve lives through rowing by providing “Rowing for All.”
They give access to rowing to a cross-section of our community, especially those who are most in need because of financial hardship or social circumstance and help them realise their full potential both on and off the water. Specifically, they give every pupil in local participating state schools the opportunity to learn to row and compete whilst teaching them the true meaning of teamwork, focus and confidence, tackle “food insecurity” over the long summer holiday, help reduce the reoffending rate of serving prisoners and give the local community access to the river. Fulham Reach Boat Club is a rowing club in London with a difference. Award winning in 2020 as British Rowing’s Club of the Year and Project of the Year, for their ‘Boats not Bars’ prison work, FRBC goes above and beyond to level the playing field and make rowing accessible, particularly to those most in need.
