ARU Social Work students are holiday an online charity Auction in aid of Caritas Anchor House!

Caritas Anchor house is a charity in Newham in London, providing accommodation and life skills support to people who are homeless.

A staggering 1 in 24 people in Newham are homeless, with numbers on the rise dramatically this year, and unemployment due to Covid19 also hitting hard in the area. Last year Caritas Anchor House provided a home to 287 people, however they still had to unfortunately turn 30 percent of people away due to lack of capacity at the charity. After moving on from the accommodation 100 percent of people maintained their new tenancies, so the work they do really does give people that vital leg up.
