Story

Hi everyone, my name is Abbie.
I am currently studying criminology at university, In the near future I would like to work with Individuals who are or have been a victim of crime, supporting them throughout the criminal justice system. I feel that victims should be able to overcome their experiences with the right support so that they can be heard and understood more. Therefore, I have chosen victim support as the charity I want to complete my 10km sponsored walk for. The work they provide makes a difference to each individuals lives by supporting them throughout each step.

According to the crime survey for England and wales, 11.9% of woman aged 16-19 and 6.9% of men of the same age experienced some form of domestic abuse last year. In 2016-17, Victim support offered their help to 91,000 people who was affected by domestic abuse. Victim Support work towards a world where individuals have been affected by crime or traumatic events and get the support they need and the respect that they deserve, this charity help people feel safer, finding the strength to move beyond crime. The support that they offer is free and confidential

All the money  that gets donated to my sponsored walk can help victim support, this is what your donations go towards:-

• £3 could help them answer a call from a victim who might
be feeling lost, alone, fearful or even suicidal.
