Story
What is Warwick In Africa?
Warwick in Africa aims to have a positive impact on the quality of teaching and learning in their partner schools for the benefit of the learners. It supports the education of Maths and English in some of their partner schools in Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania. Since its inception in 2006, the programme has reached out to over 130,000 learners and provided training for over 5,000 teachers in Africa.
What am I doing?
This summer, I will be travelling to Ghana to teach Mathematics in one of their local schools and be involved in other aspects of their school life such as their extra-curricular activities.
Why am I doing this?
I believe that every child should be given access to education. It not only broadens their knowledge, but also equips them with better opportunities in the future. Through this experience, I hope to be able to work together with the teachers in Ghana to not only enrich the lives of the students through education, but also the communities that they belong to.
How can YOU help?
Volunteers for this programme will have to raise minimally £1000 in order to keep the programme sustainable. This money will be used to help fund the next batch of volunteers to enable them to continue the programme and provide quality education to learners in Africa. Please note that the cost of my trip has already been funded by the previous volunteers and that all proceeds will go solely towards the next batch of volunteers.
