Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 8 in December 1966. I have survived on Insulin injections since then, first starting with glass syringes through to plastic hypodermic syringes and latterly an Insulin pump. In my 50th year, over the course of my 50 years I have administered over 1.2 million injections and double that figure in finger pricks for blood testing.
I wanted to celebrate this special event by undertaking some fundraising challenges that will both raise funds for the fantastic research that JDRF is pioneering and also with a view to inspiring other young people with T1 Diabetes to aspire to their own dreams and aspirations in life.
I have recently completed the Paris Marathon as the initial challenge of 12 in total these include 4 Marathons ( 3 Majors) 3 half Marathons, The Henley Mile Swim, cycling from London to Paris, The 3 Peaks Challenge and the Royal Marines Commando challenge to finish this anniversary year off in December 2016
Thank you for reading about my adventurous year, if you are doing so with a view to making a donation then I and many others who live with Insulin Dependent Diabetes are truly grateful for your kindness and generosity, and please be assured that we are on the very cusp of a cure and a future free from the pain of T1 Diabetes.
