Story

HEY EVERYONE!!!!

**** UPDATED **** - As the Great North Swim was cancelled due to Blue algae, Shaz and Jay have added another event to the schedule! a 5k Military run in Gwent in October!!!!! ****

Welcome to the Fundraising Page for Sharon, Jay and Tab!!

Yes!! Here I am again asking you to dig into your pockets and support a few events we have planned for this year. I am having some help along the way with a few people chipping in and taking part with me. First off We have the Great London Swim (3rd July 2010)  where Tab and I have entered again hoping to improve on last years times and making our best attempts to avoid anything nasty floating about in the Thames! ;-)

Then Second event of the year is the Great North Swim  in Lake Windermere(Septemeber 4th 2010) where we have a team of 4 of us! This will be Jays first openwater event, I am just hoping hes not too good at it like he is at everything else!! Also we have Ashley "Fagash" Clifford joining our team as well , whose training seems to involve plenty of alcohol and cigarettes!!! Oh he hasn't a clue whats gonna hit him!!It isn't an easy event, 1 mile open water swimming in 15 degree water is a massive massive challenge.

Then comes my biggest challenge to date The Great North Run. Everyone knows I was never a runner (am still not either!) but I have been trying so so hard to get there with it, so having always wanting to do the Great North Run, I actually have a place! I am training very very hard for this and struggling with it a little. It is my biggest challenge to date, the weight was nothing compared to the thought of running 13.1 miles. Thankfully Jay is a veteran at this now and will be up in Newcastle taking part as well. I will get round the course, even if I have to crawl over the finish line. I will not Quit!!!

Then If I am still alive after all the above, the plan is to take part in the Birmingham Half Marathon to end the events this year. Be good to run around the streets of Birmingham and end it all by going straight into a bar!!! I know Jay is doing this as well, and gonna try and get more and more people involved. If I am still breathing at the end and you have put a sponsor on this page, Beers are on me !!! ;-)

I have kind of made this page a bit about me, but I really wouldnt be able to do these events without the other people involved, really hope Tab can join me in all the events. I dragged her into the water in London last year and she dragged me round the Windermere course, so hopefully I gave her the open water swimming bug! Quite a few of you know how much effort I have put into my training and it is working, I am getting there. I have some great people around me and through the encouragement they give me I will make it around every event.

If you have managed to read all the above then thank you so much for putting up with my blurb!! If you do wish to donate then please do, but don't feel you have to, I know we had lots of sponsors last year but every little helps. Now to get my place in the Great North Run, I have had to get myself a charity place, yes I know I am asking for money! But this is for a cause very close to me and a charity that needs plenty of support. I am running for The British Heart Foundation and anything anyone can donate will really really help. Hopefully by doing 4 challenges it will encourage you all to put a sponsor on the page. If anyone has any suggestions to what we can take part in next year as well, I am open to sensible suggestions (the marathon des Sables, or desert marathon is definately not sensible!!!)
