Here is a little information about us and the journey we are going on...
The 2 of us with our amazing horses will be taking on a 3 day ride around the New Forest covering approximately 60miles. Each night we will be camping out with our horses and just being at one with nature exploring the beautiful countryside and connection to nature and our horses!
Jenni and Carats Story, Well they have had a lifetime together as Carats has been with Jenni since birth and over the 23yrs together they have been through good times and hard times. They Spent years completing in all disciplines unfortunately Jenni had a awful accident riding a clients horse resulting in permanent Damage to her neck and back. She fought hard to get her fitness back and wanted to raise awareness that there is life after injury and even though she still struggles with Fibromyalgia and has struggled with Anxiety and Depression raising awareness that there is light at the end of the tunnel is so important to her and giveing People hope. She is also an Holistic therapist for both Animals and People specialising in Emotional trauma Support and healing so supporting Horseback UK is incredibly close to her heart, as her amazing husband is ex Army! So we all decided to take on an incredible journey over 3 days!
Kelly and Mickeys story. It all began in 2012 with a head strong 20 year old girl and a 10 month old unhandled Newforest colt that was free or going to be shot, of course Kelly took that challenge.
It took Kelly nearly 8 weeks to halter Mickey with the help of sedation from her vet after he has evaded all other methods to try and catch him, since then they've had their trials and triumphs togather.
Kelly has had her lows with depression and anxiety to which the horses , especially Mickey has been a pillar to lean on and help her have some quiet to figure herself out.
Mickey has had a few small issues with intermittent lameness to which he has come back from fighting fit to complete this ride.
They both enjoy long distance riding and what better way to enjoy testing themselves over the course of 3 days then raising money for a good cause at the same time!
So please take the time to support this incredible charity who supports Veterans and Families who struggle with mental health conditions such as Depression, PTSD and Anxiety.
In 2009 HorseBack UK as it was now known gained charitable status with the aim of taking wounded servicemen and women and introducing them to horses. Through working with the horses amongst a like-minded group, service personnel who had been mentally and physically scarred could regain their confidence, dignity and especially in the case of amputees, mobility. As the idea grew and developed the team realised that it was the relationship with the horses and the environment in which this was established was where the magic happened. After several years of working with the military, HorseBack was approached by Banchory Academy to work with some of their pupils. The Charity had soon established its Schools Development Programme which has grown from strength to strength.
