On May 3rd 2014 I head off from London to Ride Around the world, riding 50,000+ miles, crossing 72 countries, 6 continents, all for 2 world records, raising funds for the Princes Trust and to Inspire Riders of Tomorrow.
My name is Rhys Lawrey, 23 years of age (Started at 22). Born in England and grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. I like to share with others and bring unforgettable memories to myself and those around me, because in our last days we do not remember money, endless trinkets, or hand written success, but the memories and moments we’ve shared and enjoyed! You will learn more out in the real world, than you ever will in a book or a TV programme.
I will be breaking the Gunniess World Record for “Most Consecutive Capital Cities Visited by Motorcycle” and aiming to be the “Youngest Person to Circumnavigate the World by Motorcycle”.
Why am I doing this?
At any age, it is a great achievement to have truly circumnavigated the world by motorcycle, but to be the youngest will be the biggest test for me. My ability to embrace the world and meeting different people who will cross my path will be memorizing. This long trip will shape my thinking and open myself up to different cultures and how young people live their life, in different countries. It will bring such incredible spirit living the experience of cultures, food, life styles and memories which will live with me forever.
I will have the opportunity to share and drive others with my enthusiasm, experience and passion. As a young person I WANT to share with other young people that if they have a strong desire to do something then they should, not to follow what’s expected of us in western society today, but follow one’s heart, and do what he/she wants to do! This is why I've chosen to team up with The Prince's Trust, a charity which Inspires Youth Lives.
Travelling solo around the world, chasing a couple of records, could be seen as a selfish thing to do. So I want to give something in return.
I ask that you donate just a small amount of £1 per continent I cross.
“We cannot choose which life we are born into, we can only deal with the life we are given. It’s our own choice to make that life better, and worth living!”
