With Christmas on the way we are even more mindful of those in our local community who are struggling and following up on the amazingly successful Foodbank collections we've seen at the stadium in recent times we thought we'd join in and try and raise some funds for the Renfrewshire Foodbank.
Our challenge to the team was simple. For every point gained in the four fixtures leading up to Christmas the B&W Army site would donate £25 to the foodbank.That meant a glorious 12 point haul against Motherwell, Hamilton, Livingston and St.Johnstone would lead to a whopping £300 donation.
So then we started getting messages from other fans who wanted to join in, and it started to grow and grow and grow and we had pledges coming in from all over the place. That list of heroes who pledged is shown on our own site here at this link;
https://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/12pointsofchristmas
An incredible £2648 per point, pledged by almost 500 supporters!!!
The plan was, and still is, to tally up our points haul after the four matches and to contact all our pledgers on 22nd December to ask for their final donation.
We have however decided to open up the page now for a number of reasons;
1) Some supporters just want to make a one-off contribution
2) Plenty fans want to donate regardless of the results.We can't lie. There is always a risk that we lose all the games :-(
3) Fans can donate as they go, rather than all in one lump at the end
4) We appreciate the Foodbank may be especially stretched at this time of year.
5) We completely appreciate that everyones finances get hammered at this time of year!
So here we are, the page is open. We obviously don't know what our target is going to be as it will be dependent on the points we gain, but we're starting off with a 1 point target of £2648.
We will adjust and update the page as the matches are played.
Thanks to each and every person who has pledged and who has supported and shared this. Other football fans have also joined in which has been massively appreciated, and some of them aren't even from Renfrewshire which is even more amazing!
