On July 10th 2019, it will mark 10 years since the loss of my wonderful Mum, Denise Hendry. I have decided to embrace the year by embarking on 10 different events to raise money in memory of Mum and for Meningitis Now. 

Mum had endured a complicated and long battle with illness and sadly it was meningitis and it’s complications that brought her short and beautiful life to the devastating end. For anyone that knew her, Mum was a woman to light up a room with her smile and eyes. Her outlook and zest for life created a beautiful world for her family, who were the centre of her world. When Mum died, we lost the light, grief and devastation soared through every single one of us and life would never be the same. 

10 years on life is insanely different and we can’t help but feel every day that there is a huge emptiness in our lives. As a Mum myself, it breaks me knowing that my children could endure what I have if we don’t stand up and raise money for such an incredible cause to assist research and raise awareness for Meningitis Now. 

Over the years I have come to meet so many people who’s lives have been touched so heartbreakingly by Meningitis and I’d like to also dedicate this next year in memory of Edward Dee also. Meningitis does not discriminate, it does not wonder who to pick or choose, it simply just does.
