About our charity : Meningitis UK Meningitis UK
Meningitis UK funds lifesaving research to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis. Sadly the disease can be incredibly difficult to detect as the symptoms are similar to the common cold or flu, plus there are occasions when people show no, or very few, symptoms. For these reasons we believe the only way to truly eradicate the disease is through the development of a preventative vaccine, which is our sole focus. We are confident that with enough support, we will be able to put a stop to the heartache and devastation it causes.

Firstly, can I just say a BIG thanks to everyone that has donated & been there for us lately, we are so grateful!


Secondly. Thanks for visiting our fundraising page .....

Our wee man Zach was sadly taken from us on the 10th March 2008, aged 6 months & 10 days, by meningococcal septicaemia, he was a bit sick all day but under no circumstances did we expect the extent of what was really happening.  Not a rash on his wee body until we reached the hospital at 6pm.....he was dead at 7.10pm. Meningitis UK need funds for research into finding a vaccine for this.  Anything you give will be much appreciated, no matter how big or small

We are organising a sponsored walk (Track for Zach) for what would've been Zach's 1st birthday, 29th August, except it'll be the sat which is the 30th! It's going to be from the Loughside Leisure Centre to Loughshore Park in Jordanstown, not too long so bring the kiddies along! It begins at 12pm at Loughside, the theme's 'Doctors, Nurses & Patients', just to make it a bit more fun, up to yourselves though, if anyone's interested in taking part, give me a shout at carleymalin@hotmail.com, you can join in anywhere, up to you! Every little helps

Darren and I took part in the big walk done by Meningitis UK, started at Templepatrick and did rightly if I say so myself!!    We rasied £221 from family & friends, plus whatever was lifted on the day so it's all good! (BIG thanx 2 June, Billy & Glengormley Gospel Hall)

We also have collections boxes in various businesses around Newtownabbey so be sure to throw in your spare change if you see one......ta x x
