Story
On 27 September, myself and colleagues from Hyphen and Novum Law will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes in the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The aim is to complete the walk in under 12 hours.
The walk covers a distance of 37.5 km (23.3 miles) to 42 km (26.1 miles) (depending on the route) with nearly 1,600 m (5,249 ft) of ascent and descent.
As there are so many worthwhile charities, my colleagues and I are all fundraising for different ones.
As the Community Fundraiser for Swindon and District Samaritans I am aiming to raise funds to be able to put towards the day to day running costs of the amazing Centre that resides in Curtis Street, Swindon. A service that costs £60,000.00 a year and is fully funded by fundraising and donations.
Last year, the Swindon Branch had over 26,000 contacts. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
We listen, providing our service by phone, e-mail, SMS and face to face as well as working in the community to reach out to vulnerable, high risk individuals, including local schools, GWH, Gablecross Police, HMP Earlestoke and Feet on the Street.
Samaritans saves lives, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
